NOVA 2.0 reinforces Sigma University’s innovation-driven academic vision

The recent successful conclusion of NOVA 2.0 holds immense importance for Sigma University as it reinforces our university’s growing focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-linked education. At a time when universities are increasingly expected to go beyond conventional academic frameworks, NOVA 2.0 reflects Sigma University’s commitment to creating platforms where ideas, talent, and industry opportunities converge.

Our university strives to foster meaningful career outcomes for students through experiential learning, collaboration, and a forward-thinking academic vision. NOVA 2.0 embodies this philosophy by creating an ecosystem where students, innovators, startups, and industry leaders can interact directly and explore opportunities for real-world implementation of ideas.

Organised by the Sigma Entrepreneurship Development & Incubation Center (SEDIC), the initiative plays a key role in strengthening the university’s entrepreneurship and incubation ecosystem. By bringing startups, MSMEs, investors, corporates, and policymakers onto a single platform, the event positions Sigma University as an active participant in the broader innovation economy. Such initiatives enhance the university’s reputation as a centre that not only imparts knowledge but also actively supports the creation of new ventures and scalable solutions.

From an institutional perspective, NOVA 2.0 helps cultivate a strong startup culture within the campus. Students and young innovators gain exposure to the practical dimensions of entrepreneurship  ranging from pitching ideas and refining business models to engaging with investors and industry stakeholders. This kind of hands-on exposure complements classroom learning and encourages students to view entrepreneurship as a viable career pathway.

The scale of participation in NOVA 2.0 also reflects the university’s growing influence within the startup ecosystem. The platform received over 550 startup applications, with more than 120 startups presenting their ideas to investors and industry representatives. Such participation not only strengthens the university’s innovation network but also helps build lasting partnerships with corporates, venture capitalists, and MSMEs.

Equally important are the tangible outcomes generated through the platform. NOVA 2.0 facilitated funding support of over ₹36 lakh through CSR and government programs, while also enabling discussions around pilot projects, collaborations, and Letters of Intent (LOIs). These outcomes demonstrate the university’s ability to move beyond dialogue and create real opportunities for innovators to enter the market.

In essence, NOVA 2.0 plays a pivotal role in advancing Sigma University’s vision of becoming a hub for innovation-led education. By connecting academia with industry and investors, the initiative strengthens the university’s position as a catalyst for entrepreneurship, talent development, and economic progress.
